I Got Her in Low | My wife tells me I can't use real names due to legal implacations so we will do the best we can. I over heard this story at an N.F.O. meeting in 1962 at the Salisbury Mo. High School gym. JB was just a boy at the time and his father was plowing virgin prairie sod near Forest Green Mo. with a Waterloo Boy tractor assisted by a pair of mules. Mr. H, the local Ford dealer happened to come by and observe this operation and was quite amused that they had a pair of mules assisting this tractor pulling the plow. He approched JB and assured him that a new Fordson would pull that plow without the assistance of the mules.JB's father agreed to let Mr. H demonstrate the power of the new Fordson. Back to town went Mr.H and soon he arrived at the farm with a new Fordson and his hired man Frank. In no time at all Frank had that new Fordson hooked to the plow and was ready. Frank had only plowed a few feet when the Fordson stalled. Of course Frank jumped off and cranked the engine and tried again to pull that plow in the virgin prairie grass without the assistance of the mules. of course Mr. H intervened and said'put her in low', Frank said, I got her in low.
