Farmall M - value and thoughts

Neighbor has a Farmall M for sale. SN 265321. It has been converted to 12 volt...added on live hydraulics, power steering with fenders and new tires. Paint is rough. Needs a seat. Radiator leaks. Been looking at it. Your thoughts? Value? Things to look for?

Deduct for seat and radiator. If everything else works okay with new tires, 3 sets of wheel weights, power steering, power governor, live hydraulic, fenders and decent sheet metal, Later manifold. Its worth a good bit to somebody.

Look under the rear case to see if there is a patch.
Otherwise look for blue smoke or excessive blow-by. See if any of the gears make funny noises. Nice Firestone rubber on the rear.

Looks like some sort of extension was added to the clutch fork. That warrants some investigation.

Agree with Nicholson on the pricing.

Upon closer inspection...as the paint flakes off on the grill and fenders there is white paint underneath. Could this be a demonstrator?

If it runs okay I would be a buyer at between $2000 and $2500.
With front /rear weights, fenders, PS and Live Hyd, you've got $1500 in extras.

There were no M demonstrators painted white. That is not to say the m pictured was not painted white, or primered in white, but They were not "program tractors" Jim

Most likely evidence of a late 50's re-paint to "keep up" with the times. I have a SM that has an old paint job like that. Grill bars were painted white as well as the area under the hood bead.

I also noticed this tractor has the crank for shutters but the serial code indicates a gasoline engine. Not a big deal but indicates some parts swapping over the years.

CENTEX - LOTS of M/SM's have that clutch release lever extension, makes the pedal easier to push in. They were sold at TSC back when TSC actually sdold tractor parts.

I've got a '51 M with the exact same extension on it out in the shop.
