I have a junker utility truck with Boom and winch on back that I lift my heavy pieces with. I went out there to start it and it did not turn over. Put the battery charger on it overnight. Then tried. Very slow to turn but not enough revolutions to start engine. I hooked jumber cables to it from my pickup. turned it over and in a moment I saw smoke coming from battery compartment...one of the battery terminals "MELTED" and the cable was left dangling. (there are 2 batteries) I cannot figure Why this happened? Thought bad starter...took to shop and said it was ok but they did not have load tester...will take it to another shop to test for load tomorrow. Thought loose connection...but the piece that was left dangling was tight. Any thoughts as to how to cure my problem or what caused it? TW
