While loading a tractor on Monday evening a guy next door asked if I might be interested in an old I.H. he has? It is a 650 Diesel complete except for the original starter tank. Sheet metal and emblems are near perfect and has two sets of rear weights. Tractor has not run in 5 years and has a Montana cab (rear door) mounted on it. I turned the motor over with a crank and seemed good in the gas mode and seemed to have good compression. But I realize that there is a risk involved with buying a non running tractor and could end up being scrap material or for parts. He was thinking 500 dollars the way it sets. Should I take a chance? Were these pretty good horses in their time? What else should I be checking for? Thanks Migraine
