I have a 1971 826 farmall that has a little over 7,000 hours and it has never been overhauled. Last spring when I changed the oil after it set all winter, I discovered about a teaspoon of antifreeze in the pan. Several have told me this is probably the beginning signs of cavitation erosion. I put some silver seal in the radiator at the suggestion of an old mechanic friend and haven't found any in the pan since. I was at the local Case-IH dealer the other day and asked what a complete engine overhaul runs these days and they said since it is the German diesel it runs about 10 grand. Can you believe this? Has anyone out there overhauled one recently and what did it cost? Does anyone know the source of short blocks to lower this cost? Thanks.
