I have inherited my uncle’s cadet model 1872 garden type tractor that he used to mow the two acres across from his home. I made a call to one place and that called it a super garden tractor for some reason, he knew no other information. I believe it to be a 1989 model because his wife said that is when they purchased it new. I do not have a manual for it. He took fairly good care of it and has not been used or started in at least 6 years since his death. The engine is free but I have not tried to crank it as of yet. The following information was taken from the tag on the side of the housing above the operators left footing and from the mower deck plate. Model# 149720100 s/n 786919 Date of manufacture C099G Deck data plate 60” deck 8374190 884091 190 374100 My question is as follows This small tractor has a 3 point hitch on the rear and hydraulic connections on the front. I can not locate a PTO shaft and that is what I mainly need. I need a small pto to power a small generator that requires at least a 16hp engine that will turn 3600 rpm’s or use a ratio box to provide the required rpm’s. On the rear of the tractor I see a oblong hole which is located under what looks to be a PTO guard….but where is the PTO shaft or the provision for a shaft????. Is there a pto unit offered for this model 1872 tractor? Was it an option since I have provisions for it? How did it operate off the Kohlor horizontal engine – which has a main drive belt that is at the front of the tractor. If so how hard will it be to locate it? How much can I expect to pay for the complete PTO used unit? How much trouble is it to install??? I have a 1982 John Deere model 314 with a 14hp Kohler engine and the pto option comes off the front of the engine, but seems very similar to the cadet’s belt system. Any help or information is appreciated. Geary Senterfitt gws@gulfwidesafety.com
