My 1200 TK had a little miss in it. Found the weak cylinder & pulled the head. It was cracked between the int & ex valves. Thought might as well pull the other 2 and have them checked. The other two are cracked in the same spot. I have many heads from a 451 (1030)non turbo, a 301 (830), and some I don't know what tractor they came from. My question is, will they work on this 451 turbo? I know a lot of the '30 series heads are interchangeble and such but are there any differeces between the heads due to age of manufacture, more hp, and the turbo?

Thanks for your help,
Tre

I would not recommend the head switch. When Case designed the 1200 (And 451T) in 1964 they turbocharged it for 120 HP (Comparable to 5010 Deere). However, they ran into a problem, when the compressed air was given to the Lanova engine the fuel couldn't get across the chamber to the Powercell in the denser air....the solution was to move the powercel deeper in the head, closer to the injector (This required a smaller exhaust valve). So, your 1030 heads should have the Naturally aspirated valve size and powercel. Unless you plan on changing to a NA 1030 Intake system the swap isnt likely to work.

PS..If head crackage is a problem you might want to keep a VERY close eye on your Pyrometer, the different Powercel location had a tendency to create "hot spots" in the combustion area. The Pyrometer was factory installed for this reason.
