What does one need to know about a 2870 and especially that series of motor? Any help would be great. What transmission do they use? what are the problems ? and what are the good points? Thank you all.

The engine in a 2870 is a de-tuned tank engine. It originally put out 600+ horses. It'll take anything you throw at it.The transmission is a beefed up powershift, same principle as all case powershifts. I know of two of them in this part of the country, no problems with either of them. Abuse and neglect kill off more tractors than poor design and engineering ever did, regardless of their color. You'll find this tractor to be dependable, cheap, horsepower.

We did'nt get many big Cases on this side of the Atlantic, but we do get a lot of Scania trucks. Take my word for it,that motor is bomb-proof!
