Went over to a buddies house today and brought the H with the 2 bottom plow becuase he needed help plowing his 14 acre rye field. He was supposed to get a manual plow for his 77 Oliver but the guy didnt bring it over so we just used mine. Now you gotta remember this is my first time plowing something more than a garden so it was different. He spread chicken litter while I plowed. Boy was it fun listenin to the H bark with that plow. Put her in 2nd and sometimes even 3rd on the flat ground. It just walked the dog with it. Now here's the good part. Like I said, my buddy has a 77 Oliver that he was trying to get a 2 bottom manual plow for becuase he doesnt have hydraulics and he wasn't able to get it. Well he really wanted to see what the 77 could do so what I did was take my plow and get it in the ground and then unhook it and hook his tractor to it and see what'd it do.(You probably thing I'm crazy now!) Well, we hooked the 77 to the plow and he couldn't even budge it and hes got wheel weights too. It would just sit there and spiin even when using the individual brakes. So I take the H and hook back up to the plow while its in the same position as it was for him and put it in 1st and just go on with it. Didn't spin at all! I knew they don't call em Farmall's for nothing!! Well about 3 hours later and some scoured moldboards I got a few acres plowed. I didn't think plowing could be so much fun. I like sitting up on the seat listenin to that H bark turning the soil. Sorry guys I'm just excited about it. Thanks!

RC

Sounds like you had a blast! I may be plowing an old fallow 4 acre field for a guy soon.He is building a house and let his place grow up in weeds for 2 years. I bushogged it a couple weeks ago and as soon as he is ready I will take over my 1929 10-20 on steel with my Little Genius 2-14" plow also on steel. I will then disk it all with my F-12 and an old IH drag disk, and plant it in winter rye. Kind of sad but that old farm will only see a crafstman lawn tractor after I leave. I told him he might want to video tape it, and call over some friends to watch how the old stuff does the job!

I know the feeling about plowing - I plowed 9 acres this weekend with my M. I was doing great until I plowed into two differet bees nests. I've also got an H and I think for the size they may have been the best 2 plow tractor ever made.

ok guys your prolly gonna hate me but i'm a john deere fan but there has always been something that attracted me to those big red ones. i own 2 of em i have a Super MD-TA and a Super C they are both fun to drive. once i get the injector pump figured out on the MD and get that straight pipe for it i hope to be able to run with the best. it will be an experiance useing a pull type plow and haveing that t/a to pull in hard spots but it'll be fun!!!! how many bottom plow you think my MD would pull?3-16's or 4-14's maybe????? ? she doesnt look good but out in the field looks done count its how ya pull. i would have thought the 77 woulda pulled it.....hmmm what do ya expect form a polish deere?

Hey 1PWRFULH - My Super M (gas - no TA) could pull 4-14's all day in 2nd gear - sometimes in 3rd under favorable conditions. Your SMTAD oughta do the same - and sound great doing it!! ...Bob M

Man I know that feeling! If I could bottle it and sell it, I could put Viagra out of business. I love to watch that dirt roll. Let's just hope the "john boys" don't try to ruin our Red joy. They like to bash us when we feel good about ourselves....too bad that is the only way they can get their kicks, they sure can't out perform or outlast us in the field.

1PWRFULH, you couldn't have said it better! One of my favorite field work operations was plowing and especially at nite with a full moon. I could turn the headlights off and watch the muffler glow on our M pulling a 3/14's.

I'd say you're hooked by the sounds of it. I might add that something had to be wrong with that "O" 77, because it should have took right off with only a 2 bottom plow. Oh well, glad your H met your expectations.//FB
