Farmall 300 with serial #28044. It does use a 12 volt with negative ground , am I correct ?? What is the hitch called with the bars that slide in and out easily on lower arms ?? Fast hitch ?? Is there any articles on Torque Amplifiers ?? I don't even know what they do. Where can I get the bearings and races for the front single tire axle hub housing ??

Sam: From the factory your 300 would have been 6 voly positive ground. Many of them have been changed over the years to 12 volt negative and even some 12 volt positive.

TA is just a two speed power shift in any of the 5 foreward and 1 reverse gear. Yes it does free wheel on the low side and don't let it do that. You best get yourself a manual for adjustment of TA and main clutches, close doesn't count with these, not even a little bit. Failure to heed these warnings can get expensive. A lot of folks will try to tell you TA is trouble, however of 5 of them I only had one that didn't go 10,000 hours before rebuild. The problem is people not machine.

Fast hitch, again the manual will explain it's uses and maintenence.

When I got it home, I put a 12 volt and since the cable ends fit with negative ground I wired it that way and when the tractor started, amp guage showed charging this way. Tractor had not run in 3-4 years, so I ended up dropping bottom of carb to free the float up. Tractor runs fairly good on a nurse bottle for a tank. Gas line kinked and small split. Does it use the longer glass sediment bowl ?? Has the short one on it now, of course which leaks (gasket). Has perfect condition lights, including the red stop light inside the work light on rear. How much hydraulic oil does it use ?? And weight or type ??? Thanks guys !!!

Sam the TA is a gear reduction unit in the transmission sorta like a low range. It is not desighned to use all the time only in tough situations when more power or slower ground speed is needed. It will not hold back going down hill it will free wheel and damage the TA unit and they are expensive to work on. You need to get a service manual and adjust the TA by the book exactly by the book. You can get manuals on this site or at dealor or TSC. The bearings have already been addressed. THe hitch is fast hitch and the part that slides in is a drawbar. If you need to know anything else this is a good place to ask questions. Someone here maybe not me but someone will have answers.

It is negative ground on the battery. Your local
auto parts store should have the wheel bearings.
I would remove them and take them along and the seals too. This forum has bearings too, give them a call. Hal
