OEM Tractor lists a starter button for an H, HV, M, MD, MDV. Will this same starter button fit a 140? They dont list one for a 140 but it looks the same.

Switched both 140's from generator / points, to alternator (3 wire) / electronic ignition. Also put a solenoid , 4 pos key switch, and high power coil on both. One of the 4 position (ACC Off IGN ST)key switches I bought was defective. In the 3rd position (IGN) it put 12V to the solenoid in addition to the coil. I was confused at first because I was checking continuity with the battery disconnected instead of voltage with it connected.

Also replaced some old wiring and used solder and heat shrink tubing at the connections. The high voltage coil allowed me to open the points (went to .038" from .023"). I'm impressed, everything works great. The wiring diagrams, instructions, and pictures I found on this site made this upgrade possible.

The starter button is listed as a 'switch assembly', part No. 376295R91. I just took one off my 1974 140 and replaced it with solenoid powerd by a new 4 position key ignitiion switch. The start position is spring loaded. The original starter button I took off has one 1/4"-20 threaded bolt, and one 5/16"-24 threaded bolt.

I think all that matters is the distance between, and orientation of the 2 attaching bolts. The 140's are top and bottom and probably standard. The solenoid bolted right in.

I remember you posting about the starter switch Mr. Gator and wondered if you got it all working. Did you? Spring is here ya know.

One of our 140's has the key start but the other has a pull switch and a starter button. I dont think the bolt sizes in back will matter but one is larger then the other, I remembered that. I was just wondering if it would fit in the old hole that the old button was in. I called OEM and they said it would fit, they probly just guessed. Its ordered so Ill find out Monday or Tuesday. Til then we can use the screw driver to start it with.

The hole through which the pushbutton goes is 1", and the 2 mounting holes are 1 3/4" center to center. Think that's pretty standard and would be surprised if your part doesn't fit.
