The owner has mounted a blade on the front and big homemade cage for protection while cutting brush it looks like.

It will only start with ether. Hot or cold.
Just a touch of blowby. Not smoking other than a second after revving the motor. But the motor sounds strong.

The power steering is not working, I guess after using the big 800 pound blade on front.

The right brake seems to grab when steering with the brakes. And the tractor rocks a little after stopping, is that a bearing, seems like it could be low air in rear tire also. The left needs a pump but works smoother.

Can't seem to stop the pto's is that a valve close the shafts? hooked up to a rope with a bunge cord to hold it up.

decent tires, clutch and brake pedal pivots got a lot of wear, shifter is worn but grabs all the gears good, no sound that I could see.

He wants 3750. I am planning on pulling a big disk and middle buster around 60 acres of semi cleared land.

Should I go for it? tractor vet?

The tractor is "rocking" back and forth after stopping because there is fluid in the tires.

This is a normal thing.

Thanks Tractor Vet. Exactly my thoughts. with the tax deduction (and in the worse case I find a bigger fool than me) i won't be out too much.

The only problem is if I go much over 5000 I'll have to buy a new Mahindra. And these old IH's aren't very plentiful in Texas. Gettin' tired of waiting.

If it'll pull a big disk around for 100 hours then I can put some money in it.

That right brake is the only spook for me. when the brake grabs and it does grab good it seems there is some play inside the rear end the tractor kind of rocks back and forth a little. what is the worse case fix if there are bearing problems 1000? 2000? 5000?

Just how fast can ya run . If it only starts with EITHER SHE GO OR EITHER SHE BLOW then two things come to mind here (1) the injection pump is getting weak and posibly the injectors are not cracking correctly or (2) the compression is way down . No steering well the MCV pump may be shot or ya go other problems in the MCV as for the brakes i would say that they are toaste . The PTO is the valve stem is up then it will not shut off . If it still truns with it down then the clutch pack is toaste and the brake is shot. and for only 3750 buck if ya add another 10 grad to that ya may have a tractor.

Makes we want to drive the 70 miles again to check the fuel shutoff cable. it was pushed all the way in when starting. hate the idea of using ether. starting to feel like it"s mine and don"t want owner starting with ether to demo it for other folks.

There isn"t anything on the pto valve. Just a rope with the bunge cord to hold the valve up. The valve was down when the engine was running and i pulled kinda hard on the rope which lifted the valve but the pto"s didn"t stop. maybe i didn"t pull hard enough.

The tractor is kinda rough, but for 3750 i might go for it..

These tractors have a starting position on the fuel shut off cable to provide more fuel for starting. If you try to start the engine with the fuel shut off all the way in it will start hard. The cable should pull quite easily almost all the way out. When it gets harder to pull, about one inch from the end, you are in the starting position. All the way out is shut off.

Power steering problem is probably low pressure in the steering system. This can cause the brake problems also since oil left over from steering is sent to the brakes. The same oil used for the brakes is also fed to the TA for operating pressure and then for TA lube. Anything left after that goes to lube the differential. The steering need to be checked out first before you worry too much about the brakes.

Not quite sure what you mean on the PTO. The PTO control valve comes out of the top of the PTO housing on the left side. The opergating rod pull on a cam lever to pull up the valve. Adjustment on the top of the valve stems determines the operating pressure. PTO brakes are spring loaded apply, pressure release. If the valve stem is not going all the way down there may be enough pressure still bing applied to keep the springs from applying the brakes. Otherwise the brake pads are worn out on the brake pistons.
