What type and weight oil should I use in a 140.

I had planned on using straight 30 weight unless I hear different.

10w30 or straight 30wt.

Don't use a 10w40.

30wt. The hard core folks recommend the caseIH "Low Ash." Plain old 30wt in your favorite brand will be fine.

How are things at Triton?

I wouldn't bother going as "high grade" the IH low ash brand. Real good chance this thing had 30W nondetergent in it several times. Check for the API rating (try for SJ or better) and pour it in. Todays API rated oils are much better then what was on the shelf just 10 years ago, let alone what was out in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

Did you find the radiator/radiator pieces you were looking for for it? I assumed that was you. If not, throw me an email. I might know of something.

Trust me on the 30 wt oil! I even have JD 30 wt. in one tractor and it runs fine!

Yep, I got a the part I was looking. I may be asking for other things shortly though. It seems the further I go with this A the more parts I need.

When you drain the oil, feel inside the oil pan with a wire and check for sludge or flakes of carbony trash. If it is pretty clean, use Brand name such as Kendall, Shell, RPM, Valvoline, 10-40 engine oil just like a car. You can also use 15-40 diesel rated oil. If it is sludgy, pull the pan and valve cover and brush it down getting sludge out. Button it back up and run it with cheap oil 10-30 for an hour with a new filter, then change to good oil (above) and a new filter. Others will argue, but the newer multi wt oil is a big factor in engines running three times longer today than those of the fifties. JimN
