Went to a plow day yesterday with my father near frederick md. Forgot to set the traction control lever when he started to plow, got about 10 feet when two of the bolts that hold the wheel hubs onto the axle stripped out. Oops. I looked up and saw he stopped and thought oh no what is it? Did the rear end go out??(its a 460) Oh no thats gonna be expensive! I get over there and its just two bolts. Thats no biggie. talk about a relief. So we cant find any replacement sized bolts in the truck, so we go over to a dealership conveniently ten minutes away, and they only have one of the bolts and its not the right size. Well we made it work anyway. Had to run back to the house to get some more tools that we decided we wouldnt need in the first place. Got back and IT STARTED TO SNOW!!! Finally got those little u pieces rethreaded and back on the tractor just in time to make the last 4 passes on the field.

All in all I had fun, but what a day. Sometimes you just cant win with these old tractors. But I love em anyway!

I have never been to one of these plow day/competitions. How does this work do I take my tractor and plow full of my gas and haul it to someone elses place and plow there ground for free. If this is how it works I may have me a plow day here this fall, then in the spring I could have a harrowing day and a planting day. A little later on we can have a hay hauling day or two. I am sure this would help my bottom line Just curious.

Mostly its a racket like you say. Have a bunch of people come to your field and plow it on their dime for fun. I'm suprised more people dont do it. Essentially its the same as any tractor show or pull. Just more...productive i guess. Another excuse for guys to get together and talk about tractors.

I thought it would have to be a big social event. I guess if I didn't have any plowing to do I might go to one or two, and may anyway just to watch the other old tractors.I would still like to have a couple of those hay hauling days.
