Okay I'm still having trouble sarting my F-12. I was going to try starting it off another tractor at school with a flat belt but there is currently not a working starter tractor.

Anyway I replaced the manifold and gasket last week and tried crank starting it some more. It will pop and stutter but wont actually run. So i was thinking of trying hotter sparkplugs and was wondering what other F-12 owners are using for plugs.

The sparkplugs in it right now are Autolite 3076.

Thanks for any and all help.

JJ,Welcome to the world of the F12.I have one that will start with one crank and four others that wont start if you crank all day long. The carbs.are critical,The jets must be open enough to put gas into the cylinders.Timing is critical,Lubercation is a must,My f14 has new sleeves and rings and the motor is to tight to start by cranking. My f12 that usally starts started giving me starting problems and all it was I bent the fuel line so gas would gravity flow to the carb better. Each one of these tractors has different personallities.I also had a problem with to much oil in the air cleaner.Valves are critical, good vacum is a must. One of my 12 dont like either,I dont understand it myself,Sorry for rambling,Ill never understand why IH ever used fuel pumps. The best money I ever spent was for a rebuilt carb from YTMAG,I've had several people rebuild my carbs and only one has worked. They look simple but there not.The float setting is critical

What is your starting procedure? mine was always hard to start even after fixing problems, then I changed my starting proceurd and it will hit on the third pull 99.99% of the time. I use he Autolite 3077s.

I've found that colder plugs makes the tractor had to start. I use W20 plugs in my F14 and as long as I start it every couple of weeks it starts with no problem. Does your tractor run OK onces it gets started? Mine had a fuel line almost corroded shut when I first got the tractor. It would aways start when towed but almost never with the crank. It would often quit while using it.
