This is my 1953 super H ser# 21186J she is a stage 2 and runs like bran new. it has new back tires and a hour meter. hope you like it, I do!

the guy i goy it from was selling it as a 54 stage 2. but when he gave me the serial number off the side plate SH 21186. the 54's dinit start till after 22002. so what i got is a some what rare late model Stage II 53. the cast codes all all "Y" castings with the newest cast made on 11-12-Y The casting on the motor is 11-24.Y so shes a 53 for sure. i cannot rember the engine number. i know it is higher than the side number. Some day i'm gonna take her all apart sand her down and have it painted by my cousin. he has painted lots of cars trucks boats tractors and lawn mowers. But What i find neat about this tractor is that except for the new dynatorqe tires on the back (no checking any where on any tire) shes all original and was not used that much. shes spent her life inside a nice dry barn. they used it to rake hay and run a bail elevator, corn auger. so it has not been worked to the bone. it has a new M@W clutch in it and a M@W rocket govener. i have a old govner that can go back on. also it came with the universel wide front made by I.H (it has the .i.h. tage and says "universel" Followed by a serial number). so i might put the orginal narrow back on her and stick the wide front under my M diesel. decisions decisions. Shes runs out so so nice. the rain cap never bounces at all justs sits nice and even. I took it on a 3 hours ride and ran it to town wide open for about 20 min and it dint miss a beat. I am so happy i bought this S .H The story behind it is also neat as it was solt to the farmer on april 12 1954 in elseworth minnesota. That is very near the old stone post that marks the minnesota 2 sides to the south is iowa and west is south dakota. north and east is minnesota. I thought there would be somthing more there but just a stone that looks like a grave marker and a story about the 3 states meating up. It was surronded by fields and it was right off the road. they were fixing a tiny bridge that fead a gravel road. So thats where she lived all her life till i went and got her last year. The hardest thing it does now is pull a tiny trailer to go on picnics with. I like her just the way she is as the picture dosent do it justice it looks even nicer in person. It has a rare hour meater on the light box. The hydrolics are live.

That is not a factory IH wide front. IH only made two styles of wide fronts for the SH. One with the tie rods out in front and one with a cast center bolster. Yours is an aftermarket one not made by IH. It most likelly is stamped "IH Universal" because it fits many differant IH tractors. If you look at the frame that bolts to the tractor it most likelly has several holes drilled to fit several tractor models.

well thats cool. on the tag is has a serial number and the tad said it was mfg by international haverser. dont know what to tell you. other people said the same thing about the wide front until i showed them a picture of the serial tag. I knowm what i got. and there is not any holes drilled out any where. it is just the way it came from the factory. but the tractor did come with a narrow front also. so i don't know when the wie front was added. but i know its not schawrtz

it may vey well been mfg for i.h. but im not sure. the tag says IHC model H and has the no 56 on it and also has a serial number. it has a caption on top hat says "if it dosent say uni-versal..." i cant read the rest. It probaly was made for ihc by some one else. but it has the letters IHC stamped right into the serial tag. It is the only one i have seen like this. It looks like the adjustable wide front in the book but i'm not for sure. it works really good and thats all that matters to me. but I must admit that my prior post could be wrong. If it is a uni-versal I wonder what else it will fit?

There most likelly were several companys that manufactured wide fronts over the years. I have never heard of universal but anything is possable. The fact that it has its own serial number is proof in itself that IH did not make it. IH only assigned serial numbers to engines and whole tractors. But like you said who made it doese'nt matter, tha fact that its on the tractor and it provides benifits over a narrow front is all that really matters.

looks great !!
was wondering, is the motor serial number 23953?
it should be stamped into the block below # 3 spark plug. just got the gas tank put back on # 28703 super H last weekend, had a leak where the threads were sweated in for the sediment bowl. over the years somebody probably overtightened it. Pat in Wis

The Super H stage II started production in late 1953 with serial number around 19000.

its been a long night! i figured it out what i did wrong after i asked what i did wrong. thanks though, This super h was orginally sold out of elsworth minnesota. I bought it from a guy who bought it to sell it from the orignal owner. it even has the orignal paint job. always stored inside. We took it for a 3 hour cruse last night and it was beautiful out! kids went the dog road with so did my wife dana! We always have a good time with Super H!!!

Looks like live hydraulics without remote control valve? Is that where the resevoir sits when you don't have remote hydraulics? My MTA has the resevoir under the back of the fuel tank, right by the steering post.
