I finished up my 3 point hitch project this weekend. Ever since I bought my C a couple years ago I knew I would eventually need to have a 3 point hitch on it. Until I bought this tractor I had only a vague idea of what a 3 point hitch was and had no idea how they worked. When my neighbor gave me an old 3 point scraper blade in trade for some electrical work I did for him I decided it was time for the hitch. I looked at Worksaver and Saginaw (why would anyone buy a Worksaver? Saginaw is about the same money but has built in hydraulics). For what I do with my tractor the $600-$700 price tag was just too much. I searched everywhere I could think of to find some type of plans, thinking surely someone has done this before and posted the info on the Internet somewhere. After all, just about everything else can be found on the Internet. No luck. I found lots of plans for hitches for older JDs - what's up with that? After much head scratching, looking at lots tractors with 3 points and even receiving some photos from from a very generous contributor to this forum, I set out to make my own hitch. I bought a couple lift arms, top link, and various pins from a local farm supply store, got the leveler arms from a salvage yard and fabricated the rest out of scrap metal. I found it very helpful to have the 3 point scraper on hand as a reference while I built the hitch. So far I am very happy with the way it turned out. I don't know how much of an implemet I'll be able to lift with this hitch as it runs off the touch control. However, it operates my scraper blade very well. I will be adding a box scraper to my implement line up and possibly a 4' mower. The best part is that I only spent about $150 and a couple skinned knuckles to make it. I've noticed there a quite a few questions about 3 point hitches on the forum. PS: about a year or so ago, one of you guys mailed me some photos of your home made 3 point hitch set up. Regretfully, I have lost the name of who sent those to me. I would like to sincerely thank that individual for taking the time and effort to mail me photos. Many many thanks as the photos were a tremendous help!!
