Farmal 340 gas, Nebraska Test 665: 31.76 dbhp, 34.74 belt hp, CHP 32.68 dbhp, 36.12 belt hp.(CHP is horsepower corrected to standard atmospheric conditions)
Farmall 340 diesel, Nebraska test 775: 36.25 dbhp, 38.93 ptohp.

I guess I didn't realize there was a diesel option on the 340. I know the gas engine is derived from the Super C, but what diesel engine is in the 340? Did any other tractor models use this diesel?

The Farmall 340 gas and the International 340 gas tractors were produced 1959, 60, and 61 and had the 135 cu inch 4 cylinder gas engine. The Farmall 340 diesel and the International 340 diesel tractors were only built one year in 1961 and had the 166 cu in 4 cylinder diesel engine.
