Super C in Mn

Got a super c that runs great, but doesn't charge battery. Part of the problem is the previous owner even cut the electrical wiring coming from the generator back to the electrical system because he said it didn't work anyways.

Can this generator and electrical system be rebuilt? I'm tired of having to put the 6 volt battery charger on the tractor after every 10 hours of use.

I don't have shop manual or wiring diagram. Any help on this area and answers to questions would be greatly appreciated.

Bob M's diagrams are fine. The original wiring diagrams along with how they are supposed to look if you are restoring the tractor (won't make it run any better than Bob's) are in the OPERATOR'S manual. You can get one from Case-IH or Binder Books-- you will need one anyway, lots of good information.

I'll be watching this one closely my self, as I have the same problem on my SA. The wires are threre, but not all are attached and they are all hacked and spliced and so forth. I can tell you this much. I just bought a "Shop Manual" for the SA which also covers the C and it has no electrical diagrams or info, only mechanical stuff. Engine, trans, final drive, etc. Still really good info, just no electrical stuff. I'm pretty sure there is a manual out there that covers it, but the "shop manual" does not.

First thing to do is to get the wiring back in order. Punch below for a wiring diagram that will work for your Super C. If the wiring is at all questionable (worn, frayed or burned insulation, sloppy splices, etc) replace it! Either purchase a new wiring harness, or you can rewire it yourself - wiring is simple and straightforward for your tractor.

If you are lucky the generator will work once you get the wiring properly connected. However if it does not, here's the URL to a troubleshooting chart that can help you isolate the cause:

Hey Bob,

I don't mean to hijack this post, but,

Will this diagram work for a Super A also?

Thanks,

Kevin

Sure thing Kevin! As long as your tractor is equipped with a voltage regulator - as indicated by a 3-position (O-D-B) light switch - that diagram is right for a Super A. ...Bob M
