Good evening. My father has just bought a 1945 Farmall. It's his first tractor and he has a lot of questions. I'll just start with question one. What attachments are available for this model? It's a model A and the serial # is FAA70193. He also says it's a 2 point. I have no idea what that is. I've been trying to get him to get his own computer for years. He says why should he if he's got a daughter that can use hers.

Thanks. Any help would be a big help

Most attachments for the Farmall A are bolted directly to the tractor itself, either by repositioning or removing the bolted on rear drawbar altogether. The Farmall A did not come with hydraulics unlike the later produced Super-A which did come as standard equiptment. The Farmall A and Super-A do however share some attachments such as the McCormick Leveling and Grading Blade.Does your tractor have the hand lever that bolts to the tractor above the transmission? Other attachments include the McCormick 16-A mower,The McCormick A-136,A-138 and A-437 cultivators and the A-192 12",14" or 16" bottom plow. There is also a implement lifting cylinder called the Lift-all which uses the engines exhaust to power the cylinder.

Ask your Dad if it isn't a 1 point instead. There are some A's with an added on 1 point hitch.

Angie: Two-point refers to the mounting system for implements. Farmall used a proprietary system on many of their tractors which consisted of two blade-like arms on the implement that slid into mating receivers on the lift arms (the large arms in back that lifted the attachment) of the tractor, hence the name "two-point". This is in contrast to the majority of modern tractors that use a "3-point" system, with two sockets on the lift arms and one attachment point higher up on the tractor. To my knowledge, the A was never equipped with a 2-point hitch, so you may want to review this with your father. As far as implements, you can get nearly anything you want, if you're willing to do a little looking. Some of the more common ones are various sorts of cultivators, mowers (flail, sickle bar, and finish), plows, harrows, blades, and a few different types of front-end loaders. In addition, if the tractor has a regular drawbar, you can of course hook any "pull-type" implements you have (carts, wagons, etc.) to this and use them as well.

Evening,
There are many attachments for a 2 point system. The trick is finding them. I have seen alot at farm auctions and they usually go cheap because everyone uses 3 point systems. Happy hunting.

You guys are all great. I thank everyone of you for your help. I'd really like to get my dad over here so he can read these emails himself. It's hard to keep calling him on the phone to ask questions. I'm so glad I came across this website without it I'd probably be going crazy looking up information.
