BN oil pump.

Rebuilt my oil pump on my BN today because the oil pressure would drop to almost nothing at idle when the engine was warmed up and was just above the red at full speed. My pressure is better now, but still drops almost to the red at idle. Jumps back up to above half at less than half speed. Should it stay above half even at idle? Is this an indication of how bad my bearings are?
Also, while I had the oil pan off I felt the cylinder walls. They feel ok but there is a lip about 1/4" from the bottom (feels like about .005"). Is this normal or is it an indication of how much they are worn?
All this added together makes me wonder if I'm due for a complete rebuild. Thanks, Dave.

Oil pressure on these old buggers are never prefect. If I were you I would take the tappet cover off and start it up, is it getting plenty of oil up top if it is you are o.k. Check your compression on each cylinderto find engine problem. Remember it isn`t a race car. .005 is nothing. .012 or more to renew. Stevec
