Might trade the H ???

I bought my H about 5 years ago when we were building our house. The backblade and brush hog were great for clearing land and moving dirt for the new yard (I added an aftermarket 3 point hitch). The only duty the H gets now is mowing grass. I use a 5 foot King Kutter to mow. It's okay but I would like to switch to a finish type mower. I'm thinking of an A or Super A with a 5 five woods belly mower. The H is a little bit too big for just mowing grass. I've priced 5 and 6 foot finish mowers for the H, but I can make some type of tractor trade for less $$$. Any advice or opinions appreciated.

I use an H equipped with a 5 ft. woods belly mower for mowing my lawn, and I am very satisfied with it, but if I had a lot of trees to mow under, I would have to be looking for something else.

Its a good idea but you're going to find that what your looking for will cost as much as, or more then the H. Forget about trying to trade at a dealer, your H won't be worth anything and their A (B or C) is worth its weight in gold (or at least silver). Selling it outright might be your best bet especially with the three point, and then start looking for again. In my part of the country (KS) Hs & Ms are everywhere but Cs are quite a bit rarer and As & Bs are near extinct.

H's and M's are more common, but I bought a Super A at an auction in Salina, and a C northeast of Newton. I live at Garden City. There was a Super A at an auction in Ness City in Sept, I tried to buy a B at an auction in Garden City several years ago, saw another at Cimarron. I have seen C's and Super C's listed fairly frequently at auctions. A's and Super A's do seem less common, as they were mainly tobacco/vegetable tractors. I would like to find a Super C with fast hitch sometime.

You're probably right. Around here, (western PA) nobody wants a row crop tractor for utility work. Everybody wants TO's and 8Ns. The TO is a workhorse but I'll take the H over any 8N. Bundling up the 5 foot mower, 7 foot blade, 3 point hitch, and the tractor, I would probably be lucky to get $1200 - $1500 out of the whole smash. Farmall Cubs bring prime dollar around here too. Fair tractor and belly mower will bring $2500 - $3500. We have a local elderly fellow ( heck of a nice guy and a WWII marine vet ) that restores Cubs, Lo Boys, A's, Super A's. He does nice work, gets top dollar, and has people waiting for tractors. I think I'll shop for a used belly mower ... I'm thinking 6 footer...

Now you're talking, a 6 footer will be just right for an H, my 5 footer works very well, but the H doesn't know it's even running.
