If your 806 has a three point,a 4-18 will be the plow. get an IH 710 or 720.

Use to pull a 4 bottom 16" 3pt mounted John Deere with my 806 diesel in low range 4th gear at 2000 rpm in sod and clay soil. Tryed once a 5 bottom 14" ford, had to go down to 3rd gear with the tires slipping a lot.

I am opposite of you. I have a IH five bottom 16" trailer plow and am planning to get an 806 to plow with it some day. I also have a four bottom 14" 's that my cusin pulled with his 826 and it pulled it all over the field with out a problem. It was a clay loam soil. I hope this helps. Good luck in finding a plow.

We had a 706 gas and pulled 4-16" with it in all kinds of plowing conditions with the coulter hubs on the ground. I suspect it would have easily pulled 5-14".

In sod (I will assume the worst) I would stick with a 4 bottom plow. We pulled a 6-18 hi clearence plow with a 1466 & 1486 back in the day. Even with a full load if front weights the front wheels where off the ground on particularly tough patches. Even if the 806 is in perfect working order you are still dealing with a 35+ year old tractor here. Metal fatigue starts to kick in at some point.

we used to do all our plowing with 4 16's on the 786 and 756, everything from hilltops to valleys, sometimes both in the same feild, low 4 usually. 1066 we have will pull 6-18's with the front in the air most of the day if conditions are right

When the 806 was new IH called them a 6-plow tractor. Most people around here pulled 5 with them. Other factors enter in to this such as soil type, what kind of sod it is, how deep you wish to go, how fast, number of acres, etc. If you get a 4 bottom plow you should be able to pull it any where it will just take you a little longer to get done.
