Is there a way to get the oil bath air cleaner on an H apart ? I want to clean the screens inside it.

Thanks

Greg

You can drill out the spot welds that hold the bottom part in place, but then you need to weld it back in again. An easier way to clean it is to take the oil cup off, and then put the rest of it in a 5 gallon bucket, fill the bucket with diesel fuel, solvent is better if you have it, until the air cleaner unit is submerged. let it soak for awhile, maybe overnight. you may want to occasionally agitate it a little, and then set it somwhere out of the way and let it drain. After it is good and dry, you should be able to use compressed air to blow out whatever is left in it.

I never tried to get one apart, I think you would have to break some welds to do it.
I have had success cleaning them by soaking in a bucket of kerosene.

I just did mine last week. It was very nasty so I chose to take it apart.Drill out the spot welds and pull out the screens one at a time. It takes a little time to do this cause as you get deeper into the canister they gets harder to grab.I used to long needle nose plyers to get in there. There are 15 seperate screens total. After cleaning slide them back in one at a time. you will have to line them all up in there to get them all to fit back in.Take note of how they came out and you shouldn't have any problem.Put in small rivits where you drilled the spot welds out.
