Can anyone tell me where I can get 5/8 inch Square Head bolts? Need them for my Farmall B wheels.

Thanks

I used hex head bolts on my B, worked fine, but of course not original. Just jam a flat blade screwdriver in next to the hex head when you torque them down to take up the little bit of extra space.

You can buy them through IH, but be sure you get Cat-5 (hardened) bolts. How many do you need? I think I have some in the barn.

Thanks for the IH dealer reminder. I did call them up and ordered some. Sometimes it's not worth looking around the IH dealer.

Not only does most IH dealers carry them, but they are cheaper than most any other place you might try. I bought some from a wholesale fastener distributor, and the next time I was at the IH dealer, inquired, and found out that they had the same thing at a lesser cost. From now on I default to IH and go from there.

I needed the square head bolts to hold the rims on my Super H, Case/IH wanted $11 each for them. Got them from Pilot Knob Restorations, for $3.25 each. These were dot head reproductions (they were 1/4 inch over the OEM length). If you don't have to have the dot head, they are probably cheaper somewhere else.

Ah yes, finding the dot heads can be a challenge. Purists like ourselves tend to stick up our noses at anything else.

Your local John Deere dealer stocks them in 5/8 x 3" square head to mount wheel weights. I would think that Case IH dealers would have them too.

Personally, I have not tried this place, but they may be worth a try:

Happy Hunting!
Simular problem on a Farmall B that my father bought. He told me that no one had the square head bolts anymore. I found some, but it wasn't an easy task. Suggest you check out some of the Hardware Stores, Welding Shops, Equipment Yards that have been around awhile. I found the ones that I needed to use at a Welding Shop. The owner of the shop said he "didn't think he had any that size, but I could look if I wanted to." Even he was surprised when I found enough of them.
