I reaquired a 39 F-14 my family had at one time. The gentleman who bought it from us accually worked it for a couple of years and then did a somewhat poor restoration, paint and body work wise anyways, but did rebuild the engine. When he painted it he basically just sandblasted it,shot a coat of primer then painted it.SOME of what he did accually looks good, but time has taken its toll, evidentally he use a poor quality of paint,so thatll have to go.there are a few broken peices and some missing parts, but I think i have a good lead on a cheap parts tractor so that wont be that big of a deal providing its not missing the same parts I need.Last year, when I got it back,I had to rebuild the head, and everything in it id good and you could tell the pistons and sleeves had been changed.Since I got it back I have put maybe 20 hrs on it.I changed the oil when I first got it back, but when I was checking it today it had gotten WAY overful and smelled of gas.I drained down to the upper petcock about a quart and then down to the lower petcock before deciding to completely drain and refill it and change the filter.I left it to drain for a couple of hours to make sure i get a much of this potent mix out as I can.my question is,assuming the receipts I was showed for the engine kit were authenic, could this much gas have gotten by the rings in such a short time of running.Would a problem in the fuel pump cause this much to get by it.It runs great onceI can get it started.I think I may have a weak mag on it and usually end up pulling it off to get it running. Also, what parts are available through Napa for these.I know about Rice, but if I need something quick,Napa would be my first choice. Iknow the engine kit was bought through one local Napa, but I dont know any of the specifics and plan to go by Monday after work.Thansk for input!
