Tap rear of crank (where felt it) get a piece of threaded rod and a thick piece of stock with a hole in it and put a nut on it and just thread it on. Then plug hole in crank and use a sealed bearing for the pilot.

If you beat it on, remember that the main ball bearings are taking the shock. I haven't installed the flywheel on my engine yet, but "driving" it on doesn't sound like an option. I do know that if it is heated it will go on easier.

You need to clean the crank and flywheel surfaces and use some WD-40 to help the flywheel on. You don't have to beat very hard. Just take a block of wood and bump it back on. You need to check for run out with a dial indicator. It should not exceed .006". This is very important to ensure proper clutch operation.

Are you saying that I have to beat it back on? It came off hard, but I was hoping there was a way to "wish" it back on.John.

you wish! I guess you could chain it to a tree and use a hydaulic jack to press it on. But no, John, the word is DRIVE it on, not BEAT. Use controled blows and the right size hammer.
