Frozen Clutch Disk

I put in a new clutch disk this last August. The tractor has been working great, but now that it's winter here (in the 20's), it appears that the disk is sticking to the flywheel. I know this, because I can't disconnect the transmission when I push in the clutch pedal. I would try to put it in gear, but they would grind. Any thoughts? I thought it might be frozen to the flywheel by condensate. Thank you.

I don't know the details, but I've heard it is possible to loosen up a stuck clutch without splitting -- open the inspection plate and tap carefully.

is it rusted to the fly wheel? shove the clutch pedal down, while the engine is running in netural. sometimes the clutch disk will pop loose from the fly wheel.

In a Clutch: Nice to know that some Fords (8N)are like Farmall's (X) in the sticky clutch department.

Take the tractor back apart and see if you are right wich I think you are right. You might have to get your flywheel turned. You might even have a bad pressure plate. email me me and if you have any problems I will call you and we can figure out this problem. Heres my e- mail grahammacdonald@cox.net let me know.

That can be a problem, fords like to do that a lot, and yes I know its not ford. Now for a way that might help you, can you start it in gear? If yes do so with the clutch pedel down and hit the brakes offf and on till it brakes loose. Then when ever you park it tie the pedel down so it doesn't do that again. By the way higher gears work better for that

Dear Old,
That's a great idea. I have it parked in a tight spot, but I think I can pull it out with another tractor. Thanks again.

Jeff

One of my tractors did this, I asked an old timer and he toldme to jack up a rear wheel and put the trans. in high gear, lock the clutch pedal down and rock the wheel back and forth. It didn't take long to break the clutch disk loose.

MO Joe,
I strapped a come-along from the clutch pedal to the front axle and gently brought down the pedal. I jacked up the left tire (Farmall BN) and rocked it. Initially, the tire would barely move, but after a couple of seconds, the tire rotated freely in 4th gear. I put the tractor back down and started it - the disk was free!

I would put this down as a nominee for best suggestion of the year. Thank you, Joe, and everyone else for your help.

Jeff
