Hi,
About 1974 I purchased two F-12's and a F-14 with all attachments for $100. I got the F-14 running and have used it around the house since then. My questions are:
The F-14 has more HP than the F-12 yet the bore and stroke are the same. Where does the F-14 get the extra hp?
Is there a reference source available that will show me what was standard on the F-14 as far as seat?
Who carries rings for the F-14?
And finally, this F-14 came with a fuel tank that has a one gallon tank built inside. I assume this is for running diesel. Is there any other modifications needed for Diesel?
Thanks in advance, Ron

I know the heads are different, but never checked to see if the chamber ccs were different for a different compression ratio. Some old kero F-12/14s have had the manifolds replaced with gas only manifolds. the gas manifold has the exhaust pipe that is off set and the kero manifold has the pipe that is centered. Also there is an additional rod just above the throttle rod to set the heat valve to "hot" position to run kero. it will run ok with gas on the hot setting in winter but it might sputter a lot in summer. There is no heat valve rod used on gas only models.

For rings try Rice Equipment, Clarion, PA

The small tank is for gasoline. The larger tank held distilate, which was a fuel similar to kerosene. The idea was to start the tractor and warm it up on gas, then switch over to distilate, which was cheaper. A distilate tractor usually had shutters on the radiator to keep the temp up, sometimes a different carburator, and/or a heat shroud around the manifold. An owners manual should give you all the procedures for running on distilate.
Distilate tractors usually run just fine on gasoline, very few bother to run on anything else anymore.

The F-14 was wound up to 1650 RPM vs the F-12's 1400 RPM.
