Like 26Red said, check out farmall-h.com. It covers a lot of stuff about the H and the mower. A friend restored both after retrieving them from his grandpa's or uncles farm.

Phill, I should have directed Daniel to that site. There is so much information relative to the H there. I have gleaned a lot of information there myself as it applied to my H. I tend to get a little verbose at times and in this case I could have done exactly as you and Red did. It just didn't enter my mind at the time.

You'll learn an awful lot of things if you just visit this website every day. Good luck. I have a 1944 H and it is a great tractor.

I have H SN 551. We have worked it over and are now reassembling and painting. Hope to show it in Iowa this summer with M sn 549. My brother and I have a near complete letter series + supers with some duplicates. 28 total all farmalls except a Massey 30 and 22 and a Allis G. Dad's first tractor was a 30. Do not know why we have the G. Neat little tractor though!

Daniel, If you can be more specific, I'm sure someone here will do their best to answer your question, and gladly share their knowledge. However to ask a blanket question asking for everything there is to know about a Farmall H, is like asking for the secret of the universe. Your question is far too vague, and while there are a lot of folks here that know a lot about Farmall H's, I doubt that any one person knows everything there is to know. There are volumns of books and info out there, and there are people to answer specific questions. I think most here would share my view and commend you for taking such interest in a particular tractor or even tractors in general. So if you have a specific question, fire away, and I'm sure you'll get an honest response.

Ok I guess you have a good point. I am not so interested in knowing about the engine/transmission, so that is out. I am interested mainly in restoration jobs that people are doing, as well as implements that were designed for the Farmall H. (ie the cultivators, the universal mower, the two bottom plow, etc.) Basically it is just questions on restoration projects.

I find that not enough tractors are being restored and today's farmers need to remember their roots.

Daniel, Im near Saginaw, and you? Nice to meet you here. I just restored a 1952 H last year, and am restoring a 1940 A this year. I wish you well in your restoration. It is a most enjoyable project.

ha ha thanks. I am in Adrian, about 10 miles from those crazy ohioans (no offense to anyone of course!!!!) The closest large town I am near is probably Toledo OH, that is about an hour away from here. I believe that this H is a 52 or 53 I am not sure. I am very interested in restoring the tractor- I love everything about it. It drives wonderfully, sounds great, runs smooth, and is good for almost every type of task that I put it to work for. Here is the thing- I have to get my Father's permission!!! I think I use his tractor more than he does!! He does have a super wd9, a regular w9 and a 10-20. I haven't had any experience operating the 9 tractors or the 10-20, however, I have driven the super wd9 once or twice a while ago. I learned on an H and still love it to this day. Do you want to know any more info on any of the tractors??? Hopefully I can talk my dad into painting it someday soon- that is about all it really needs. No overhaul or anything- starts great even in freezing cold weather when we use it to plow snow.

Daniel, If you know the serial#, you or someone here can trace it to what year it is. There is a menu to the left on this site that will list serial#'s. As for being close to Buckeye Country, Dont worry, it wont hurt you, While having been born and raised in Michigan, and retiring back here, I lived a good number of years in Columbus, and grew to love the Buckeyes, which I realized just doesnt wash off. You didn't say what your age is, but permission from your Dad is always good, but what is even better is his blessing and support and involvement. Tractors and farming to whatever degree can be one of the most wonderful, rewarding ventures for a Father and Son, so the more you can get Dad involved, the more you'll appreciate your experience, especially as time goes on and you reflect back. A lot of us here don't have our Dads anymore, but still reflect back to the days when our Dads were the greater part of what was going on. You'll end up with lots of memories and special moments, I can assure you.
