I've always been amazed at how much weight these IH lifts can handle and don't ever remember grabbing hold of anything they they wouldn't lift.

I used to watch my neighbor with that big 12 row planter on the back of his 1466...looked like a darned airplane when it was coming at you head on.

Anyone ever find the limits of these things?

I once operated a Rockland Rotoveyor with my 1066. It hooks to the lower links like a semi-mount plow. We used 24 of the 96# IH suit case weights and tractor would still slide some turning with machine out of the ground. We built a double rack to hold those weights out front. If you were a bit quick on clutch a front wheel would lift. So there was a lot of weight back there. Hydraulically it never even made the tractor hesitate.

Power was another story as manufacturer called for minamum of 200 hp to operate that machine. It was a demonstration and at the end of the day his machine was sold. I was not the buyer. The buyer bought a V8 MF 225 hp, then an articulated MF and finally a 225 hp 4x4 Deere. The Deere did stand up. I wouldn't have wanted to put 1066 on that machine long term either. But it did run it and sell it.
