How many farmalls do you own? Also I think you did a great job on your book, Farmall Letter Series Tractors. Excellent photos.

I've got a F-12, a Farmall C (bought from my grandfather, in the demonstrator tractor serial range, haven't found a speck of white on it), a McCormick Super W-6, and a Famous 2 Cylinder upright stationary engine as far as IH. I've also got a very early Allis B, a Carr concrete form maker tractor (if you want to call it that), a Madison Plow Company Bemis tobacco planter that was used by four generations of my family, and a Allis 1 bottom and Deere two bottom plow owned by my grandfather. All in my Dad's sheds, he's telling me to build the next one! Most of it needs serious work- the Allis B currently is in major pieces in two different states.

In you and Ken Updikes book 1955-1985. You describe the 340 farmall as not having the option of the torque amplifier. Mine is a 1958 and has it. I have never seen one without it. Also the horsepower rating in the book is lower than what this site and the manual state. Just thought you might get a kick out of knowing that. The book is full of pictures of the different options and is an interesting table book

Kinda confused about what you are saying- Ken wrote the 1955-1985 book himself.

Guy, could your C possibly shoot down the 47010-54411 serial number range? If you find no white, unless the tractor was completely stripped, then it is not a "white C". Only us crazy collectors will remove all the paint. A dealer would have just steam cleaned the thing and repainted over what was left. I stripped the supposed originally white C (white tractors look weird to me) I have and painted it red. There was white under red on everything, cast, sheet metal, small parts, all of it.

There's a possibility of a gap in there. One thing I haven't done yet is to pop off the serial number plate and look under that-the plate didn't get put on until after painting, so would have been white.
