Has anyone on here ever entered a tractor pull with a utility. Have got a 460 utility I thought about pulling in local pull. How do they stack up against a Farmall version? Never seen a utility pull maybe there is a reason, just wondering.

It depends on the weight rules, Some state no weight more than 24 in. in front of the furthest part of tractor. Some are 11ft. in front of the center of rear axle. I always started with 68% of the total weight of the tractor on the rear and 32% on the front. The 11ft rule is good for utility tractors.

Everything being equal; weight, hp, gearing, I would go with the Farmall because of tire diameter and weight distribution, imho.

I have seen a few 460 utility tractors pull. Are they a good puller? You betcha!! In pulling, it is important to pat attention to safety at all times. You should put on a set of wheelie bars. It depends on if you are pulling from the fast hitch, or a drawbar assembly, I prefer the drawbar on the puller my self, less wear and tear on the fast hitch. Most pulls have rules on hitches, as far as how high it can be, and how close the hook point from the center of the rear axle. Depends on what class you are pulling in. it would not hurt to have some front weight on the nose if you have not pulled it before. Give it a good tune up, and go safely pulling, ChadS

You mean a rowcrop version. Hhmm, I'm not for sure which would do better, but I'd think maybe your drawbar wouldn't quite be at the same height, so you'd want to check your pulling rules, and adjust it to the max allowed height (you'd want to do that anyways with a rowcrop). The biggest issue is weight transfer, which version would best transfer the weight to the rear wheels. You don't want a tractor that has alot of weight on the front, and almost nothing on the rear. I'd say you'd have to pull it and find out.

Never been to the track with one but the first thig that comes to my mind is the tire size. Usually the utilities have a shorter tire which may be a traction disadvantage.
