What does anyone know about this model?

Looking at one (emails) but have not gone to look at it yet. What research I have done says steering was a weak point on the 240/
340U's. Seller says steering is tight.

Do they have live? It does have power steering and a 3pt (after market?)

Cute little tractors, just would like to know a little more about them.

Thanks Guy

Can attest that steering is an issue you should investigate carefully. Also clutch. Other guys will tell you that grinding gears are pretty common even though they've replaced every clutch part in sight. I haven't gotten that far with mine yet. But my 240 has a loader running off a pump in front and it has plenty of power. It sure starts great on a 6V system.

I think you would like the 240 Utility, depending on your needs/play-time desires. Power steering would be a plus. Live hydraulics, yes. I purchased a 240 Utility about six weeks ago. My Farmall 340 needed a "stable mate". Mine came with a Du-Al loader-heavy duty unit, that I have put to good use moving heavy objects including breaking up and moving concrete walk. Also had three-point adapter and rear blade. Missing is two-point fast-hitch and drawbar that previous owner/owners have no clue to location-nuts!!! Also, no power steering. ?"s to ask, which you probably already have, are: six or 12 volt conversion; fluid in tires, including front; can you borrow a compression tester and see what you have - can give you some idea as to condition of engine. If you plan on looking at tractor, tell owner not to start it - check things out on a "cold" engine. These are a few things I have done when looking. Also, peek in gas tank for debris. Operate in all gears - I didn"t on this one and found out mine will sometimes jump out of fourth gear-lesson learned the hard way, but I still like the tractor and they are rare. I have an IT manual and a very kind/accomodating mechanic and that also helps. Good luck and I"m sure the board would like to hear how you do. Coffee time!
