While I realize those old gassers didn't measure up well compared to the diesels, I think it should do better than 3x14.

I had a 560D and pulled a No.60 4x16 plow, tractor just played with it. My neighbor had 5x16 trailer plow and pulled it with a Cockshutt 570. Now I realize in sandy loam we had quite easy plowing. I went from the No. 60 plow to a No. 510 5x16 semimount plow and pulled that with 656D.

Yes, I quite often plowed in 2nd gear with the 656, but do you realize a 656 pulling 5x16 in 2nd gear will plow more land per hour than it will pulling 4x16 in 3rd gear. Same can be said between 3rd and 4th. The wear and breakage on the plow will be far less below 3.5 mph. 3 to 5 mph is just about what the plows we are discussing are engineered for. Sometimes I wonder just how fast some of these guys are trying to plow.

Its better to have a smaller plow that pulls easy, than a big one that you cant pull. Around here (se PA) if you want to pull 4-16 and make decent time, you better hook it to an 806.

Gasser pulls 4-14" in east central SD just fine in 3rd gear (had heavy tillage option).

Glenn and Allan: Are you guys just joshin'? Three-bottoms is all a 560G will handle in your area? C'mon! I was under the impression you guys had real soil out in your parts, and not this stuff we have here in east-central Ohio that seems is only suitable for making flue liners and brick. Isn't you ground flat, too?

Our 460 does fine with 3-16s. In some places locally (bottom ground), a 460 does OK with four-bottom pull-types. I would certainly think a 560 would be happier than a possum eatin' cow pies pulling four-bottoms even in tough soil.

Give me a full report.

4-16s should not be a problem.

That tractor will easily pull 4 16s. We had one that would pull that same plow in clay hills. Your soil is lighter and terrain is much less hilly.IMO
