our forum's own FARMALLKID ! Yes he was interested and thought he could store it at his grama's. I thought a young person was deserved of this offer as he has always shown an interest in old iron, I'm sure some of it has rubbed off from his Dad. Anyway the machine will be going to Wyoming Ontario, about an hour and some drive from Me. Since Mitch was keen on it I told him I would help him with the trucking cost and hopefully I'll be able to see my old Goodison threshing at the Brigden steam show. I do want to thank everyone who showed an interest and were making queries within their organizations. I know Mitch and his Dad and their friends will enjoy owning a piece of history that was made very close to where they live. Now if they can just find a Goodison steam engine.... and that's the story about the guy who gave away a threshing machine on a tractor forum. I had almost convinced a museum to take it, then a scrap dealer made me an offer and while I was thinking about it he returned with another fellow and they spent about an hour going over the machine, then I got figuring that it wasn't scrap they were trying to buy , but buy at scrap price to resell to the Mennonites...that's when I put it back in the barn. I am glad to give it away, knowing that Mitch appreciates what he has been offered and I'm sure he will have it threshing as soon as possible. The machine is saved from the scrap yard, no one took advantage of me , I will have more room in my barn, and Mitch has a piece of history that I can visit....that's my story and I'm sticking to it...Mike in Exeter Ontario

Michael: Congratulations to you and to Mitch. Now when I go to the steam show in Brigden, Mitch will be easier to find. He will be the only guy under 50 threshing with a Goodison. By the way, Mitch and I have never met, was supposed to happen at Brigden this past summer. The Goodison will make him more visable.

Thats really nice Mike. I've seen too many nice machines go to waste in pasture or get buried. Far too often someone wants these machines, but the old guy says, nah, she ain't fer sale - or want way too much.

I saw a guy do this with a house 20 years ago. He was offered 30k, he wanted 40k. For 20 years he has heated it with no return. Last year he was offered 20 for it. Now he wants 30.

Anyways, enough nonsense... My point, I really like it when someone will go out of their way, as you have, to give someone a good deal rather than try to make a few extra bucks. And in your case, free. Now it has a home where it will be appreciated, and you have the satisfaction of knowing it will be taken care of rather than rusting away.

Couldn't agree more! Hope this machine see good care for years to come.

Sounds like a Wheel Horse I was after for years.....first time the lady said her brother was coming to get it..... .....2nd time she wanted 10x more than it was worth(Sitting outside in poor condition)..... ..... 3rd time(After someone smashed the hood with a ball bat and it rotted off at the bottom but I had another one) she only wanted 3x more than it was worth but I could leave without the old girl so I paid up. Been my mower for the last 5 years or so. Hopefully I can finally finish up the restoration this winter.
