IHC 300 Utility fast-hitch

My winter project is going to be installation of a factory rockshaft on my 300 Utility with the hopes of converting it to a 3pth. I would like to hear from others who have done the same and would like to see some pictures.

I am considering purchasing a conversion kit to be used with 3 point implements. What is the best type to purchase? Apparently Farmall made a conversion as I have seen them advertised on eBay. Is this the best type to use? Will the 200 support a 5 to 6 foot mower or brush hog? Will the pto turn the unit fast enough. I recently purchased a woods belly mower for a Farmall C and it works great. However it has a very large pully on the rear to provide the turning speed needed to properly run the mower.

I have 560 with fast hitch and have collected several fast hitch implements for it. I also purchased a Category 1 quick hitch for it to use for 3 pt implements. I had the straight fast hitch prongs so I modified the quick hitch so it's points were 5 inches above the holes in the fast hitch armes. I also installed the third link bracket on the rock shaft. After I had this settup I found the IH fast hitch conversion to 3 Pt which works very well. I have had no trouble with hooking or unhooking with the fast hitch implements. Just my 2 cents worth.

Gee - I guess I've been lucky. My 350U has a fast hitch, and I love it. I've got 2 Fast hitch mowers, a 3 bottom and 2 bottom plows, back blade and a few homemade implements. I've only had the plows get unhooked once or twice (easily corrected by backing up with the plows still in the ground) No lynch pins to lose, either. They slide in easily, and unhitch cleanly with little fuss. It is important to keep the bolts and pins tight, so things don't get cocked off sideways.

I did weld a top link onto my rockershaft, and it works pretty good with adapter arms for 3 point hitch stuff. I have had to fabricate 3 different adapter arms so the extension length and angle fits the implements properly. I usually leave them on the implements they were fabricated for and use them like a fast hitch. Just hop off to attach the top link.

I don't know about these guys below(Grin)..... ...I know I'd rather have a fast hitch than a 3pt. I guess they never spent much time on a '20 or '30 series 2 cylinder with a 3pt. The lower link ends would sieze to the arms and you had to be dead on with the tractor or you ended up moving the equipment with a bar..... ..... .....What a PITA. About the only thing I ever had that didn't come unhooked from the FH every time was a small grader blade. Turning the right adjustable arm a crank or two in the right direction fixed that when it came time to unhook.

Good Luck with your 300U..... .....We had a 350U years ago and that was one handy little beast! I still wish I had it.

Happy Thanksgiving to you Allan! I hope it is time speant with Family and a soft sofa! I'm in and out of work today. Can't afford to miss business. I'd ike to see that three point conversion too. My old 300 utility would be better off with one. That "fast" hitch can be a pain!

Nope, we be a workin' today too.

I agree on the fast hitch. There was a reason that everyone under the sun ran from those things as fast as their legs would carry 'em when they had the chance. Just never did like that set up.

I converted to three point hitch using the fast hitch drawbar and the Eagle claws off a Case VAC. I welded pipe to the drawbar the right diameter for the Eagle Claws. My 300U has a round rockshaft so I fashioned a top link by welding two pieces of heavy angle iron together around the rockshaft. Throw a little grease here now and then. I have used it for about 20 years and have had no trouble. Big deal was getting the proper angle when welding the claw arms on the drawbar. Since then I have also fashioned two-point arms with spee balls which work well also, especially when using a pto.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

The fast hitch had its drawbacks. Basicly hitching or un hitching an implement. Had a fast hitch semo mount plow for the 706. Had to chain it to a tree to unhitch and use the tree for a stop to hitch it up. Quite a trick to get hitch arms properly lined up.

I pruchased Cat.1 and 2 3pt.adapter arms to convert the fast hitch to 3pt. A bracket was bolted toward the top of the differential case for the top link. Should be able to do the same with a 300 if you already have the fast hitch on the tractor.
