I have a I & T service manual but it does not show much in the way of repairing an oil leak that is coming from 'somewhere'thru the position control/lift shaft that holds the control levers and leaking (a lot) on the bracket that holds the levers to the case. Local dealer is closed today(day after T day). I'm sure there has to be a seal or O ring in there somewhere and I'm not sure how to get it apart after taking off the lift lever. Any pictures or assistance will be appreciated. Thanks, Tom/Idaho

Tom, I just did that exact repair on my 504 last winter, The draft control or center rod was broken off and had leaking around the support bracket. You need to take the seat and transmission cover off to get at the retainer clips and pins to remove the whole control assembly from the side of the housing. I was able to get the oil seal and the o rings thru the local I.H. dealer. Be very careful not to damage the oil seal edges upon inserting the inside and outside control rods back into the tractor or you will still have a leak and you will get to do it all over again. You may as well drain all the Hy -tran out of the rear end because you will be working with very small pliers or tweezers to get these clips and draft sensors back into the right position and may drop some pieces a few , I mean more than a few times into the bottom of the casing. Have a rod magnet handy If you need the no,s of the parts let me know Migraine.
