Finally deceided to overhaul my cub. I am in the process of tearing it down and removing the engine. I would like to remove the crank pulley and front cover before I take it to the machine shop. My question is, how does the crank pulley come off the crank? Is it just a pressed on? I would appreciate your help and thoughts.

It is a press fit and it is usually very tight. A good puller and some heat will get them off. You must be careful though that when you use the puller, you do not pull against the flanges of the pulley as they will break before the pulley lets loose. Use a backer plate such as a bearing separator or similar set-up to pull against. Check the picture. The threads in the end of the crankshaft are 1/2" n.c.
