I have to change the front oil seal on my engine and having a heck of a time getting the steering shaft seperated so the worm gear can be removed. I would leave it except I want to replace the shaft bushing. The ony thing I have not done is heat it up. Drilled out the swedge pin in the shaft but it will not budge. Any body got any suggestions???

I'm fond of using vibration from an air-hammer. Seems between penetrating oil and vibration a lot of stuff comes apart without busting up my hands, which is a good thing. :>)

I just unbolted the one bolt on the steering support, and laid the sterring wheel assembly off to the side. I used a 3-point hoist to pick up the unbolted bolster as a unit, saving a split. Of course if the bolster leaked, I would have done it your way. That seal leaking sure made a mess, and presented a challenge.

This pic ought to explain it.

Take Care,
Steve

Thanks Steve. I had to replace the bushing and seal in the steering worm. I had a dadgum hard time with it. I had to heat it up and still pound the heck out of it. But I was"nt gonna give up. I also had to replace those two washers and seal in the steering gear box. That was a pretty good challange too. If you have any questions or need my help please let me know.
Thanks,
Rex

I had the same problem with my B. I used some PB Blaster and had my neighbor pull on the steering wheel while I rapped the knuckle with a hammer. It worked but the neighbor about fell on his butt when it let loose.
