Can anyone tell me if the Farmall 140 would effectively drive a 72" belly mower?
What would a used 72" woods belly mower cost?

I have an L59 that I haven't used in 2 years. I purchased a Toro ZTR that is much faster. I mow about 8 acres. Mower is on a SA. Make me an offer and lets see if we can work something out.

Thanks

I am using a 72" or 6 foot woods L306 belly mower on my Super A. I have used it for about 4 years now and i love it. however if you have hilly, or bumpy yard it will tend to scalp in places. mine does this when i mow my parents yard with it. but it mows my 3.5 acers great and looks good.

my dad has a cutivision a with a 5 foot l59 on it, he is not in any condition to use it. but it doesnt scalp nearly as bad as mine does on his yard.

so long story short. if you have hilly/bumpy yard. go with the l59 it wont scalp very bad, if flat and few sharp turns like my yard, go with l306. the super a has plenty of power for it. and if im not mistaken the 140 has a tad bit more horsepower than the super a.

i have seen the l306 go on ebay used for about 700.00. but shipping is a bear.

thanks
bryan

If in good condition, the 140 will handle the 72 inch three blade Woods mower with no problem. More common to see the 60 inch mower though. I used a 60 inch Woods on a 140 for years, including everything from lawn mowing to mowing pastures and sweet corn stalks in my garden. These mowers do an excellent job of lawn mowing. Be aware that correct belt set up is critical on these mowers. You'll need to get a manual to make sure you have it correct. Don't know much about the cost, but I expect you'll have to pay at least $1000 to get a decent used Woods mower. Make sure you get all the mounting parts with it.
