Not IH factory, aftermarket kits were available to put several different diesels in an M.

a couple of years ago there was an article in red power about a couple of 450's that were bought new without engines and they installed new cummins engines. maybe the fellow with this tractor for sale is hoping that the guy that paid a load for that super hta and thought that it was original will call him.

Well i did not see the show but if there where only 2 made then i find it amazing that there are 2 currently advertized with paper work documenting conversion from the dealer. #1 farmall m sigle wheel front on ebay: item #3879662574 and #2 in this month Red Power classifieds, just got it yesterday MTA wide front with cummings conversion.

Nope, thats not the way it reads though. He says he will sell just the motor conversion, which means you can upgrade your M to that engine and get all the hardware for it. It reads "Farmall M with a Factory Cummins Engine. Very hard AND RARE ITEM to find. Motor runs good. Dated 1959 on the engine castings". Sounds like he's trying to say it's a factory piece, but M's were no more by 1959. I don't know exactly what he's tring to do, but by the price of it, I think he's hoping somebody will grab it thinking it's an ultra rare factory piece.

Probably. I'll bet the engine was junk in it and he had a Cummins kicking around the shop. I'll bet he cold make alittle selling those conversion kits providing that cummins produces more power than the original.
