Uh oh. Now you gotta paint the rest of the engine. Which will make the tractor look bad, so you gotta paint that. Well
long as you have it apart, you may as well...

Almost looks like somebody picked their nose and wiped their finger on your carb. Ick!

Here's the AFTER shot.Slight difference huh?
Runs like a top now.If you turned the idle screw all the way down it would literally run @200 rpm (putt..... ..putt..... ...putt....)...Couldnt do that before.

A little bead blasting,a little work/new parts,a little paint and there it is!
Seeing as how these carbs are made of steel and not zinc, there was scaly rust developing in the bowl. The only way to clean that out is to blast it out! I also noticed the float pin was way loose...somebody opened up one of the holes where the pin slides thru on the carb and the thing was slippin and sliding all over the place.I squeezed that hole down and now the pin is secure, that probably would have made a difference by itself.
The needle seat sealing ring was as dry as a bone and it broke apart when trying to remove it,and the previous knucklehead ripped out the screen from the fuel inlet.Thankfully I bought a new CNH/C-IH one months ago.The throttle shaft seemed a little sloppy as well. The kit came with a new one.

Wow! You got some serious paint on that thing. I just rebuilt one this morning and was feeling pretty good about it until now. Had some problems with the adjustment screws, but I think I have it figured out. Probably won't put it back on the tractor today. The screen is gone in the one I worked on. Guess I'll worry about that later. The float hanger on this one had an "open" hole too. They must come that way. I hope I got the float level adjusted about right. It said it should be an inch and 5/16 from the carb body to the float, when the float is at its lowest point. It will shut off right before the float levels out.

I will have to recondition my carberator on my 300 also. Where did you get the kit for the rebuild? You did a nice job on yours. Thanks

As PAULIH300 stated that it was a Tisco kit you can get those at most any dealer. Tisco is an aftermarket vender so the next time your at an IH, JD, NH, etc dealer just ask if they can order one up for you if you don't want to get one over the internet.
