I got some "black lightning" media locally cause they were out of "black beauty". Turns out the black lightning is coal slag. Anyone used with good results? I seemed to be constantly unplugging nozzle.

I work in a Sand plant here in ILL. and we quit calling our coarse sand Blasting sand but a lot of place still buy it for that. But I guess since they have taken off the Blasting sand name the Company is not as liable.
I have been using a little finer sand for blasting and it seem to cut a little better than the coarse and it bounces back a little less. But always wear a Respirator!!

Black beauty is what I use in the sandblaster[not the beadblast cabinet].Ive have not had clogging problems, maybe step up one size on the nozzle.I like the cutting action of Black Beauty. Also seems to have little dust.

Silicon Carbide is worth the cost. It is great. The stuff lasts forever. No clogs. You will be glad you switched. Clean out ALL of the old stuff and pour in the good stuff.

Remember to be careful when sandblasting. Use a NIOSH approved supplied air system.

Coal slag probably causes it also, but it does have less dust.
