The 117,552 produced did not include the B. There were another 75,241 B and BN built.

Although the Super A was a lot like the A, there were a lot of detail differences. Nearly all the major castings changed.

There are A's, Super A's and Super A1's.

The A has a C-113 Engine. They were built from 1939 to 1947 and there were 117552 built but that number includes all A's and the B's and Super A's

The Super A has a C-113 Engine and Hydraulics. The Super A was built from 1947 thru 1954

The Super A1 has a C-123 Engine and Hydraulics

As you can see the basic difference between the A and the Super A is the addition of Hydraulics to the Super A.

The Super A1 had the hydraulics the the Super A had and a larger engine. The Super A1's were only built in 1954 and there were only 1672 of them built.

Hope this helps

Two major differences:

1. Horsepower.
2. Hydraulics.

You can't add hydraulics to an A in any sane fashion. They weren't an option, so basically you're stuck scabbing an old power steering pump on there somewhere if you want 'em. It's pretty tough to make that kind of modification look like it belongs.

The A is just a mechanical horse, while the Super A has some utility beyond just pulling things around the yard.

According to Guy Fay's IH Tractor Data Book, both the A and the Super A are rated at 17.35 HP drawbar and 19.06 PTO HP on gasoline.

I have a Monarch Road equipment hyd. pump on my A driven off the generator belt. Its a sane set-up.But the A is not a match for the super A im not saying that.If I could post a picture I think you would agree my set up of the add on pump is not too bad.At least I think its sane.Insane works sometimes also.I have spread plenty of gravel and wood chips with a snow plow on my A.I keep waiting for it to break but it never does. What Fonzie is saying is a Super A starts out with everything you need where a normall A is not as work ready.

There are several minor differences and one significant difference, Hydraulics, the Super A has them, the A doesn't.
