Ok, so I talked my neighbor into buying an original IH loader for his H. He puts the thing on by himself and it won"t pick the bucket up more than 2 feet off the ground. It appears to have enough fluid, and I think the air has been purged from the system. We suspect inadequate pump pressure. Any ideas? Is there a source for a rebuild kit? Many thanks.

I have had H loaders that were plumbed back to the fill pipe and I got rid of that. What is it going to return through the fill cap? The seals would have to be shot to have oil in the lines on that side. If the seals are worn out it isn't going to lift anyway.

The old Farmhand loaders had a reserve tank that plumbed into the belly tank and clamped to the air cleaner and a bracket on the frame. The H as enoufg oil for lifting the cultivators or a 8 inch stroke cylinder.

They are right the cylinders are your extra reservoir for the oil has to be plumbed back to the system.

You ARE running out of oil. The belly pump only holds a few quarts, and you've got those huge 48" (or longer) cylinders to fill.

As someone else said, you have to plumb the top end of the cylinders back into the fill tube on your belly pump, and get them filled with oil. That way, as the pump sends oil to the bottom of the cylinder, the tops refill the belly pump so it can keep on pumpin'. On the way back down, the cylinders suck the excess oil back out and store it until the next time.

Loaders like the Model 30 require extra plumbing so that oil is stored in the end of the cylinders because the pump storage isn't sufficient to lift very far. The hose from the liftall pump (side of tractor) is attached to the casting end piece of the cylinder. The hose attached to the pipe on top of the cylinder is a return hose for the oil stored in the cylinder and attaches to plumbing added to the breather/filler hole (on top of housing) for the liftall pump. You can add oil to the storage in the cylinder by removing the plug in the front cast end of the cylinder. I tried to scan instructions from my operator's manual but I need to practise some. You can get an operator's manual from Binder Books.

Let it go back down and add oil. If that doesn't work be sure to remove the other side of the cylinder plugs to let the pressure off when it is going up. If the pump pumped it to 2 feet, it is probably okay. "My 2 cents."

which loader is it (model number if known) also when it reaches 2 feet up does it shake a little when it reaches the end of its travel?

John
