Question on 340 Utility on Ebay

Well, I'm starting to look for a utility tractor just to have around for odd chores and stuff and saw this purty 340 Utility on Ebay.

The loader doesn't look very sturdy but the tractor looks good or is it the old lipstick on the old pig with the new paintjob. I noticed some major runs on the paint job, but the paint doesn't really matter to me, a good running tractor does though.

It would be a 700 mile one way haul to get the tractor so I would be looking at a $1,000 hauling bill or a 24 hour roundtrip to go get it as well.

Any thoughts?

Nathan, Why is the loader sprung 6 inches to one side? If you are interested I'd sell my yellow 330.

I notice that the loader is over to the side now that you mention it. I had noticed that the front grill piece was bent over a bit but thought that might have been the design or something.

I sent you an email on your 330 but it is probably too nice for what I'm looking for!

Just me, but I would pass on this one - Weld repairs on front axle? How hard has she been ridden? Or beaten?

The lipstick looks like it was applied pretty heavily I guess.

Very nice to have knowledgable folks willing to give opinions on stuff like this, I would have never noticed the missing tachometer that works! ;)

I guess I'll keep looking.

If the paint job is representative of the rest of the tractor, forget it Missed spots and runs all over the place. Does not look like new paint to me. Covers for the hydraulics and piece under the dash, both next to impossible to find, are missing. Dents, etc. I personally do not believe the guy. But if you want a 340 to work on as a hobby, it's fine.

I'll go against the tide on this one - to a point. If it is everything it is represented to be its worth $3000 with the loader, easily. The little utilites sell well at auctions and bring near or above dealership pricing all the time.

Problem is - is it as represented? Many tractor buyers have been skewered when they have been able to inspect a tractor in person - let alone from 700+ miles away with a motivated seller. I am naturally suspicious of Ebay and like the in person sale.

By the time you get it home you will have more in to it then it is worth. Currently at $2275 and the reserve isn't met yet. Probably a 2500 or 3000 reserve. And there is a hole in the dash for the missing tach that works? With this piece of misinformation it makes me wonder about the rest of it. Maybe if it was next door so I could see it in person....

I'm not the best person to ask for advice on tractor purchases, but on this on...I'd walk away.
Too many things just don't look right. Example: Description reads that the tachometer works, yet all I see is a empty hole in the dash. Also, I'm sure that the TA was disconnected because of a reason.
For that kind of money, you'd better look it over carefully.

It is already up to $2300, I wouldn't pay much more for that one personally. It looks to me like it was a very hurried paint job on a machine that has seen its better days. By looking at the steering wheel and the knob, it looks like it sat out all its life, not that it hurts it. I also see dents in the air cleaner cap and fuel cap. Something from the loader problably fell on them. He also doesn't list the hours. I guess it's just me, but I would have a hard time buying this tractor without seeing it first.
