Farmall Regular -- age by engine serial number?

I recently purchased a Farmall Regular. The serial number plate was missing, and the frame where the serial number normally is located looks like it was used for an anvil.

The engine serial number is QC82917. Can anyone help with the date of manufacture?

I would also appreciate the paint codes for the OEM Gray and Red (wheels), and any recommendations for magneto (spark advance) repair shop.

Thanks
Truman

Case/IH came through with the correct information, I was very pleasantly surprised.

Build years Color Dupont Number

Prior to 1934 Light Gray 93-55803

1934 to 10/31/36 Dark Gray 93-27625

Wheels on all tractors were painted IH 2150 Red. This paint is still available from your CaseIH dealer. The part number is 991012R3 for spray, 991010R2 for quart, B90882 for Gallon

Pale Rider:

Thanks for that tip! Too many repair shops nowadays don't know about that olde stuff! {:<)

About paint codes: A couple of years ago at Temple Texas, a lady was driving an Oliver painted black, and the announcer said something about that being a strange colored Oliver. After she out-pulled everything in sight, the announcer said: "I reckon when you own it, you can paint it any color you like, especially when it pulls like she does!"

When I am "restoring" I prefer to go back to OEM specs.

Have a Great Day!

Looks like a 1930 model. Some one on the IH board may have your code. The gray change a couple of times. I like the color that NE Cowman used.
