I have an H with serial #239427 X1, what year does this make this tractor (I beleive its a 1946)? Where do you find the casting # for the head? What I'm trying to determine is, I going to rebuild this tractor, and i'm trying to figure out what the best rebuild kit to use for the motor. I beileve that this one has flat pistons...I want to figure out if I can put the stepped head piston kit into it, to help give her a little more power. What is the best head to have? (I think that there 3 different ones?) This tractor will primarily be used to rake hay so I don't want to get crazy with trying to beef her up. I guess whats the best combination of oem parts to use to obtain the most power? any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated? Thanks

Your serial number indicates it's a 1946. The casting number for the head is under the valve cover. X1 means it's a gas model. Go to>Link

Cheers!

Sid

Without looking, the X1 suffix indicates that your tractor came set up for gasoline. That's good, they have the higher compression heads. The casting number is in the middle of the head under the valve cover. I believe that number should be 8043.

Any domed pistons will increase the compression and power. Most kits come with over sized sleeves and pistons too.

Consider having the cam reground to Super H specs. (~0.030" more lift).
