My tractor runs like the timing gears are out, but there is nothing wrong there. It has new plugs, points, condenser, plug wire, cap, rotor button, new resistor, and 3 new coils. The lead from the coil to the distribulor has been replaced. The distributor has been checked out on a machine and is fine. The tractor has been hooked up to a remote starting system and runs fine. The minute you hook back up the regular system it misses like the timing is off. Can anyone help?

Put a new battery in it and fix the chargeing system and it could be that you have the wrong coil on it yea i know you said that you have put three on but are they the correct ones . 6 volt coil with a resistor not a twelve volt with a resistor.

The alternator and battery are good. It is a 12 volt system. The coil has an external resistor and I can disconnect the resistor from the complete charging system and it still won't run right.

Yep i know it's a twelve volt system and the coild that they use is a 6 volt coil with the resistor and i have seen way tomany 12 volt coils on them and they will act like that , Now if the carb is set correctly and the timming is set at full throttel to the spec. and the dist. is working correctly and you have clean good gas it it then by all wrights it should run like a top . The the bad part is that i can not hear it run or look at it on here so we are all guessing .

Have you tried running a wire directly from the battery to the coil and see if bypassing the rest of the system makes it run better ? Remember that if you do it this way the only way to shut it down is to remove the wire or have a switch in the line .

I have done that too. The problem seems to be between the resistor, coil and distributor.
